The Work That Shaped This Work

I spent over 15 years building a career in Human Resources and Learning & Development - leading Talent Acquisition and L&D teams inside corporate organizations, many of them in construction and building materials.

I was good at it. Trusted with more. Always the one who figured things out. But somewhere along the way, the work became unquestionable.

It took a moment I wasn't prepared for to make me stop.

To pause.

That pause changed everything. I stopped climbing someone else's ladder and started building my own.

THE PERPETUAL CAPACITY APPROACH

What I Believe About Growth.

Growth isn't about adding more. It's about getting honest.

So many of us are living and leading from a version of ourselves we've already moved past — shaped by stories we were told, habits we never questioned, and identities we outgrew without noticing. Real growth starts when we pause long enough to see that clearly.

Here are 3 things essential to begin every growth process -

01

Pause.

Stop the noise long enough to actually see what's happening. Not the symptoms on the surface — the patterns underneath. Most leaders never create this space. That's where we start.

02

Drop the Story.

We all carry narratives about who we are, how things work, and what success looks like. Some of them were never really ours to begin with. Growth requires the honesty to identify which stories are driving you — and which ones are holding you back.

03

Show Up as Who You've Become.

When you stop performing an old version of yourself, something opens up. You lead with less effort and more presence. You stop managing how you're perceived and start actually connecting. That's what authentic leadership looks like — and it's available to anyone willing to do the work.

A Decade Inside the Industry

My work in construction and trades isn't a niche I chose from the outside - it's an industry I've been shoulder-to-shoulder with for over a decade.

I've accompanied concrete truck drivers on their daily routes and deliveries, shadowed Sales teams in the field, and trained Dispatch for building materials. I've coached leaders at every level - from the people running water trucks and managing job sites to the executives making decisions at the top. I've spoken at industry events (NAWIC and World of Concrete) where I've had the privilege of supporting women building careers across the trades, the new generation of leaders, and preserve the legacy of those who built the industry.

I know this world — its pace, its culture, and the particular kind of pressure that comes with leading people who build things for a living. That context doesn't come from a certification. It comes from showing up, paying attention, and doing the work alongside the people in it.

Growth doesn't always require doing more. Sometimes it just requires a conversation.

Outside the Work.

When I'm not coaching, speaking or building programs, you'll find me in the Rocky Mountains - hiking, exploring, and doing the very thing I encourage every leader to do: stepping away long enough to remember who you are outside of what you do.

I'm a mom to adult children, a Colorado transplant who has fully embraced the mountains, and someone currently working on a book. And I have a Norwegian Forest cat named Ting Ting who was once a model in China. (The more you know).
